Geeze you could probably see our marina from space right now with all the flags flying. Just about our entire fleet was prowling the deep today and I’m counting 76 white marlin, 2 blue marlin, and 3 sailfish flags on the charter side. We had over 25 boats fish out of private side and I just got a count from a dockhand at roughly 70 white marlin and 4 Blue one’s. The weather was beautiful today and once again so was the fishing. There was a distinct change in the area everyone has been catching marlin in today. Several longfin albacore and dolphin were mixed in their catches today. Typically there has been a large bull dolphin and maybe a wahoo or two but today there was quite a few boats with meat that marlin fished. Everyone made the most of the marlin fishery today and we didn’t have anyone go after the tuna bite. We do have some boats going after Tuna tomorrow and there will be alot to talk about tomorrow.
Things are so exciting around here right now I saw at least 3 different guys get thrown into the marina today celebrating their first marlin catches. I’m really wishing the dock crews would’ve photographed that one for the fishing report. To put it in real prospective how good the fishing is, I had a gentleman drag himself up to the booking desk yesterday in full crutches asking what he needed to do to go catch a marlin! Him and his wife are fishing on a charter tomorrow and I’m sure those fish are going to be fought from the fighting chair. I will definately be mentioning the guy in crutches and his incredible catch in tomorrows report! He should probably earn double citations for each marlin! Looks like Tues we have a front pushing in and the wind is going to pick up dramatically for at least a day or two so everyone wants to make the most out of tomorrow.
The nearshore guys caught some massive Spanish Mackerel today along with some bluefish. Often young King Mackerel look very similiar to a spanish mackerel and it took the veteran eye of the mates and captains to be sure. There is crystal clear warm water right off the beach right now and it’s really brought in some quality game fish. There was no Cobia spotted today despite the conditions and hopefully we will see some more before the seasons out.
