Another really good day here at pirates cove! We had almost the entire offshore fleet fishing today and there are marlin flags up and down the docks. Private side is covered too. Honestly it would be impossible to count with dock hands running up and down the docks fueling right now. Story of the day was big blue marlin and lots of boats catching lots of whites. One captain told me he counted 80 boats fishing in his area today! Guess the word is out about how good the fishing is right now. The first nine charter boats accounted for 23 white marlin and 2 big blue marlin. Both Blue one’s were estimated at 400 pounds. WIth Blue marlin as big as 900 lbs being caught and released this week everyone around here is really excited. Quite a few nice dolphin and big Yellowfin Tuna were caught today as well. Including almost a limit of dolphin on one boat. The highlight of my day was an energetic 7 year old that couldn’t of been half the size of the White marlin he caught today! Congrats to 7 year old Ryan Dameron of Mechanicsville, Va for his second citation this year!! I have a feeling we will be seeing him for years to come..
Nearshore they caught good amounts of blues and some really nice Cobia. Post spawn Cobia have started to show up and packs are showing up everywhere.
