What a beautiful day it is today with almost no wind and clear blue skies.  Things are so busy here and there were so many boats fishing today.  The story of the day is Dolphin once again with most of the boats catching limits of mostly gaffers.  The tuna fishing was still a little slower with some boats getting 3 or 4 but no big numbers.  The wind and current took a positive step in the right direction and most didnt have to go quite as far today to get into fish.  Hopefully this trend continues and this weekend will see good numbers of dolphin and tuna on the docks.  It seems like nothing can go wrong with the fishing this year.  If the boats aren’t loading up on Tuna then they are catching huge numbers of dolphin. Big numbers of dolphin have been strangely absent in the catches for most of this year.  There really weren’t alot of classic dolphin fishing oppurtunities with very few solid grass lines this summer.  It looks like they are making up for it now though.  The dolphin’s angry side kick, wahoo, has showed up in pretty good numbers too.  This is the time of the year to catch really big wahoo.  This week, including today, has seen some really nice wahoo caught.  There were some boats that marlin fished and from what I can gather they caught around 4 on each boat.  I haven’t spoken with all the captains that did go after marlin but the one’s that I did speak with reported up to 7 hookups.  Tomorrow every single offshore boat from the combined fleet will be out fishing.  Things are really exciting at the marina right now and you get the feeling your in the world’s epicenter for saltwater fishing walking around the docks.

Things were a little slower nearshore fishing today.  Yesterday the fishing was outstanding for them and there were high expectations today.  There were some blues caught and the spanish mackerel that were caught were huge weighing up to 5 pounds.  They also did some wreck fishing and caught some black sea bass. Most of the sea bass were under the legal size and had to be thrown back though.  Despite some massive Cobia spotted around the inlet over the past few days none were caught today.

Tomorrow our famous inlet guide is heading out on a trip and I’m looking forward to see the results.  The season on sound rockfish (striped bass) has just opened and are being caught in good numbers. He still has at least a half day available sunday so call us soon if you want to try your luck at some great trout, rockfish, and drum fishing.
