Today the weather was really sunny with winds out of the south 10 to 15. The first boat in was a near shore charter. He had been chomping at the bit ready to capitalize on the Black Sea Bass fishery after the long closure. They did extremely well limiting out with at least one 4 1/2 pound citation and several over 3 pounds. Looks like they’ll be eating really good tonight! The offshore fleet had a really good day with limits of Gaffer dolphin on most boats along with Tilefish. Some really nice Yellowfin were caught as well. A Citation size Yellowfin weighing 78 pounds was the most exciting catch of the day.
In the sound the Speckled Trout have really shown up in good numbers and the average fish is of a much better class than the year before. There have been some really good catches of Puppy Drum when they can be located.
