This morning we had a few boats head out Offshore. It was a little choppier than expected but sometimes the rougher it is the better the fishing. Today was no exception! I’m trying to get a count on Billfish flags but the first two boats in had 13 whites between them and one had some really nice Yellowfin Tuna and Dolphin. Our private boats are covered in flags as well. We are getting ready to go through another transition into fall when the offshore fishing explodes right on the tail end of a world class Marlin bite. This month really lived up to expectations with litterly hundreds of Marlin hooked over the last three weeks. We’ve had everything from Grand Slams which included 16 whites to an estimated 900 pound blue released just two days ago that also made up a grand slam. Nothing but world class performances from the anglers, mates, and captains this month. September promises to be just as exciting if not better!
The Nearshore fleet had a really outstanding day with great catches of Spanish Mackerel, Blues, and even some good sized Cobia. The conditions weren’t ideal today but they really honed in on the fish regardless. There was quite a few families fishing today that included some small children. Kids really are in awe of just about any fish that’s willing to fall for something with a hook in it. Some of my favorite moments are of the wide eyed kids at the booking desk describing how exciting their catch was. Of course there’s always the "one that got away" that was probably too big to get over side anyway story to go with it. Anyone who hasn’t had the opportunity to take their kids fishing should really let us make it easy for you. They will be hooked for life! (No pun intended!)
