We started the day a little hot and humid with a low southwest wind. By midday the sun disappeared and there was some ominous looking storm clouds on the horizon followed by a thick overcast. In other words, just the right conditions for fish looking up at dredges and teasers. There was no shortage of anglers heading out today trying to take full advantage of the 9 second dominant period and 2 foot waves either. Yesterday evening it looked like one side of the marina was surrendering to the other with so many white and blue flags flying. I came into work today and it looked like a hurricane evacuation with the same slips now empty. We have at least 29 private boats out fishing and a big chunk of the charter fleet. After all the big tournaments from Bermuda to Pirates Cove it’s really good to have all our Captains back putting all their knowledge and skills on display for our customers. Our dock crews worked till late in the night getting everyone fueled and iced up for fishing today. Today the marlin bite continued with just about every boat catching between 3-6 whites and quite a few Blue marlin including at least two released over the 400 mark. Congrats to 12 year old Dean Allen on his first white marlin today!! Everyone take care and have a great Labor Day!
