Well it’s that time of year for sure!  Seems like we’ve had a good blow about once a week followed by outstanding fishing.  Everyone has their eyes on the next few days to see how things pan out with the system headed here.  We only had two boats had offshore today.  The first one in had a really good day wreck fishing catching limits of nice sized black sea bass and some blueline Tiles.  The other boat had a slower day with one white marlin release.  On the private side most of the boats I’ve seen are sporting between 3 to 4 white marlin flags and one sailfish.  It would seem that the marlin fishing, in particular, is a little better on the backside of these fronts that come through.  Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that after this front, the fishing explodes like it has been.  After not feeding very much during the blow the yellowfin tuna, in particular, should be extremely active.  There are so many factors that play a part in whether the fishing is good or not including the time of year.  This is the best time to catch some of the largest fish of the year and next week should be really exciting around the docks.

Nearshore had mixed results.  The wind really started chopping up the surf as the day progressed.  There were some Blues caught and a few miles offshore they were able to locate good amounts of false albacore providing their anglers with some drag screaming action.  False albacore are members of the Tuna family and can be found in big numbers just off the beach by the nearshore charters.  Thousands start showing up in our waters, in the fall, feeding along side Bluefish and Mackerel. Between their incredible fighting ability and the variety of tasty fish being caught, we’re having some really outstanding nearshore trips.
