Yesterday we experienced a power outage throughout most of the Northern Beaches including Roanoke Island. Apparently a line was severed underwater near by. I’ve heard about every rumor possible about how that occured. I’m not clear on anything other that a line was definately severed and we lost power and phones starting around 4 pm till almost 11 pm at night. For anyone that tried to get in touch with us yesterday we apologize for the inconvenience.
Despite the problems here, the fish didn’t seem to mind. The Offshore guys on Wednesday did really well again with large numbers of Dolphin, including some really large Citation size Bulls. Good amounts of Yellowfin Tuna were caught along with some Blackfins mixed in. Today wasn’t much different with some nice catches brought back to the dock despite it being pretty rough today. Some of the Yellowfin caught today were in the 60 pound class.
Yesterday the Nearshore guys knocked it out of the park again with some outstanding catches. Especially on the Full day trips. One trip caught King Mackerel and Dolphin while another loaded up with a limit of large Cobia. Blue water had pushed in relatively close to the beach really opening up the possibilities for the Near Shore fleet. One of the larger Offshore boats stayed in fairly close while fishing with some small children on board. This particular captain has gone 7 for 7 days with a Blue Marlin hooked. He was beginning to wonder if they were following his boat. Because despite him being in so close, and in only 19 fathoms of water, he hooked another Blue Marlin. I saw the video and that fish put on quite a show for the kids as it Grey hounded out of the water relentlessly. There was nothing but smiles on that trip trust me. Today things were a little slower for the Nearshore guys but they still had good catches of Spanish Mackerel and some bottom fish for those that stayed inside the inlet.
